PURR Roller Derby: PURR vs First Settlement Derby Dames

THE PENNSYLVANIA UNDERGROUND ROLLER REBELLION KEEPS ON ROLLIN!!!

Saturday June 8th, PURR travelled to Marietta, Ohio where they met up with the First Settlement Derby Dames at the Washington County Fairgrounds. It was a packed house for the "Jammin for the Cure" bout! Our best wishes go out to the Leimkuehler family!

The game rolled out at 5:00pm with both teams going strong. The First Settlement Derby Dames were pushing their jammers through the pack to get the lead jammer position while PURR tried to dig their claws in and make up points. It took a while for PURR to get their paws wet at the Washington County Fairgrounds and get in a rhythm.

At intermission they were down in points, but after a big rally during the intermission, and a quick reminder of how purr-fectly they work together during practice, they came back with a vengeance! During the second half, PURR's jammers came out on top and took the lead jammer position time after time, racking up points to take the lead. At ten minutes to go, the team put their all into it and worked to hold off the Derby Dames.

It was looking like they were going take the bout, but with less than two minutes to go, two bad kitties got sent to the penalty box and the Derby Dames saw their chance.

They fought hard in the last jam and took the lead for a close win at 218 to 198.It was a good fight for both teams and a tense game with lots of excitement. Who could ask for more?

Who? Maybe the guys... cause they wanted a piece of the action too! So PURR took on the guys in the Co-ed bout and MAN was that a blast! PURR took the co-ed win at 176 to 120. You would have had to be there to really appreciate it. ;-) (hint hint)
