If you were an animal,
and you played Derby, what animal would you be?
I'd prefer to be a rhinoceros so I could knock everyone out
of the way, but I think I tend to play a little more like a field mouse, just
trying to avoid getting stomped on. LOL
How long have you been
skating/playing derby?
My Dad claims I've been skating since I was 6 months old...
I couldn't confirm that. I've skated in art, speed, and after this last year I
can add Derby to my list.
Are you a Derby mama? (Do you have kids) What do your
kids think about derby? When they cheer for you, do they use your real name,
your derby name, or something else?
Yes, we have 6 boys
total. Lots of testosterone. The only one that comes with me is my 6 year old
son though, and he usually screams “Go Midget Ninja!” and occasionally “Mom! Do
you have a dollar?!?”
When you aren’t on the track, what other hobbies or sports do you enjoy?
I enjoy cookies. Cookies and cupcakes. Eating them, not so
much baking them. And motorcycles. Sometimes I eat cookies while riding on
motorcycles. And books. I like eating cookies while reading books too.

The souls of those who ask if Derby is a 'real sport'.

watch over and over and never get sick of?
Goonies. Roll Bounce. Victor Victoria. Pirates of the
Carribean. Harry Potter. Van Helsing. To Wong Foo...

What is the biggest
life hurdle that you have overcome?
Too many to list. Doesn't matter though. I have made it
through nearly everything by 'skating it off'.
What would be your
first reaction if you were in a random crowd and you heard a whistle?
I'd look for the first person I could see in black and white
and resist the urge to flip him/her off.
What is the weirdest
place you have skated at/through?
The Math Department at Kent State
Do you have any pets?
Do they skate too?
We have a new puppy - I'm getting ready to train her to pull
us on skates.
Do you think your
significant other would be able to make it through a jam?
I think he'd do a better job blocking than I would, but he'd
foul out dang fast.

to do on skates?
Basketball, soccor, tennis, talking, visiting, dancing,
se... um... I can keep going

pre-bout rituals that you do? (Like smelling your helmet?)
Yes, I put my skates on before my pads, then take them off,
then put the elbow pads on my knees, then take them off, then put on the knee
pads... (I didn't say I did this ritual on purpose.. it's just what happens
every time)

skating derby, and you look down and realize you’re naked?
That was a dream?
